Oradea: the fortress and the Art Nouveau centre
about 9 km — a quarter of an hour by car
Oradea is nine kilometres away and deserves a full day, not an hour. Oradea Fortress, fully restored, can be visited inside and has courtyards, museums and cafés.
The city centre is one of the densest Art Nouveau ensembles in Central Europe: the Black Eagle Palace with its glazed arcade, Piața Unirii, the banks of the Crișul Repede. You walk from one palace to the next without taking the car out of the car park.
Oradea International Airport is also about 9 kilometres away, for those arriving by plane.
